30 copywriting blogs that are actually worth reading
There are zillions of copywriting blogs out there. Most fall into one of four categories:
- Blogs used to promote a copywriter’s services.
- Blogs by people who primarily want to sell you money-making stuff related to copywriting.
- Blogs that say they’re about copywriting but seldom provide any usable copywriting advice.
- Blogs on copywriting by people overseas who can’t write in English very well.
I’m not criticizing any of these blogs. They all have their purpose (except maybe the last category). It’s just that it’s harder than you might think to find good blogs with useful copywriting tips.
Here are 30 blogs (in no particular order) that do offer advice on copywriting.
I added Pro Copy Tips just in case you copy or bookmark this list. I didn’t want to get left out.

Hi Dean,
Thanks very much for including me in your list. I feel flattered to be listed amongst such well respected names.
Matt aka The Copywriter’s Crucible

Matt,
My pleasure. I’ve read copywriting blogs for a while now but didn’t realize until I started doing research for this blog how few good blogs there are on copywriting. So this list isn’t just 30 blogs…it’s THE 30 blogs that in my opinion have something to offer.
Sweet, thanks! I’ve subscribed to your feed, looks like some great content.
.-= Stephen Dean’s last blog … Why Goal Setting Sucks, Sometimes, I Think. =-.
Stephen,
I’m glad to have you as a subscriber.
Thanks for the inclusion on such a stellar list of copy comrades, Dean – I’m honored and flattered! ![]()
.-= Roberta Rosenberg’s last blog … Friday Video Funnies: Twitteleh: Twitter for Your Jewish Mother =-.
Don’t be so humble, Roberta. You have a fantastic blog. It’s always informative and fun.
Hey, thanks for including us on the list, Dean. Plus, thanks for the list, period! There are a couple of names on there I’m not familiar with, but I’ll be checking them out.
Cheers!
.-= James Chartrand – Men with Pens’s last blog … What’s Your Style of Writer Underpants? =-.
Thanks for including my Copywriting That Sells High Tech and Freelance Writing Business blogs on your list. I read several of the others you noted and now have others to explore. Your list will be a great help to other writers.
Janice
My pleasure, Janice. I’ve been a lurker on your blog for a while.
Great list Dean. I love that you included a healthy mix of classic and up-and-coming talents. There’s a lot to be learned here.
All my best,
Rich

Nice list, Dean. Thanks for putting it together.
Michel Fortin’s blog didn’t make the cut, huh? He writes an excellent, highly-trafficked copywriting blog.

Ryan,
Whenever you make a list, you’re going to leave somebody out. I didn’t say these were the ONLY blogs worth reading.

Excellent spot with Turner Ink!
I’ll definitely be adding a few of those to my RSS feed – just to see what they’re doing and I’m not!
.-= Andrew Nattan’s last blog … SEO in 2010 – A Five Step Primer =-.
A nice selection there. If anyone ever finds themselves having to write specifically for careers sites though (where the quality of content can be lacking or non-existent in many cases) my blog is aimed at you

Hey Dean
Wow! It’s great to be on a list that includes the likes of Brian Clark, Nick Usborne and Bob Bly.
Many thanks Dean
Sarah
PS I’ve got you in my Blog Roll now as I love your posts. I’ve got around 160 pages indexed in Google, so I hope that’s helpful.
If you ever decide to add a blog roll here I’d love it if you considered my blog. I’d definitely appreciate the extra 90 links.
Cheers,
Stephen

Thanks for sharing all of these sites! Now I have new people to stalk, lol, just kidding…sort of. But seriously, I am trying to get my copywriting blog in the right category but it has been difficult to find time to spend blogging while still providing copy for others AND still participate in that thing called life.
I visited this list soon after you posted it – and discovered some great blogs as a result.
I wonder whether it’s time to post an updated list. I can think of some great copywriting blogs that have sprung up or gathered strength since then. Andy Nattan’s blog is particularly good (I see he’s left a comment above, so no problems about finding it!)
That’s a really useful resource for anyone thinking about getting into the copywriting profession. Well done!
Great blog, interesting info!
Great list, I’ll have to check out some of the ones I don’t recognise.
We’ve just started our own blog – very much falling into category 1!
